A Mountain bike holiday in the the Sierra de Castril can be varied and
challenging. There are easy rides like the circuit of the Valley de
Castril and many harder outings which tackle the mountain passes and
summits on super single track. Also further afield (within half an
hours drive) there are many more excellent routes to be enjoyed. Check

The Sierra de Castril

Our routes are graded as follows
Grade 1
Mainly well surfaced tracks, not strenuous
Grade 2
Well surfaced, longer and more Strenuous
Grade 3
Mixture of surface types, technical riding,small drop offs and steep descents, some easy switch backs
Grade 4
Technical, big drop offs, challenging switchbacks, loose surfaces. Can be very strenuous
Grade 5
Only for the most imaginative. Big drops, big boulders- Full body armour, full face helmet and high skill level to succeed. We can point you at these routes

The following routes all can be started from our accommodation at Cortijo Sierra Castril.
Valley de Castril Route Grade 1
A
great warm up day introducing the area and getting the legs working.
There is a couple of good hills to blow the cobwebs away , along with a
couple of steep descents.
Vuelta de Portillo Grade 2
A lovely introduction to the mountains of the area. Enjoying wonderful scenery
The
route circles the lake and skirts the flanks of the mountains to the
north before dropping down into the center of the Natural Park.
Pico del Buitre Grade 4
Fantastic route. Wonderful technical single track with a descent of 1000m of vertical height loss
Guandel Valley Grade 3
This is a rest/ warm down day. Mainly down hill or flat. Interesting scenery and some great single track.
Vuelta Alta Grade 4
Vuelta
Alta. The High route. This is a stunning route, with great atmosphere,
super countryside and some wonderful single and double track riding.
Cazorla Route Grade 4/5
Cazorla
route. This route explores the southern Sierra de Cazorla. Some big
climbs mean some big descents. Also some of the most technical riding
that we guide on. However the difficult parts are short and can be
easily avoided.
